Iceboat Association in Belarus started its revival in 1999. For the
above period we have restored 12 iceboats with aluminum masts from
fragments of 20-25 hulls and planks made in Poland and Estonia. For the last 2 years we have bought 2 modern iceboats, so our fleet consists of 14 DN iceboats. ( Chamipionship Republic of Belarus 2001 www.crystall.org/ice/photo/2001/chrb/P3180160.JPG)
For promotion and development of iceboating in Belarus we use the
restored iceboats for training and races with change of iceboaters, (http://www.crystall.org/ice/photo/2000/bpcop_photo.htm) and involve the yachtsmen (16-22 years old) from Republican center of Olympic training. The organization work for building of National association of DN
iceboats started in 1999, and in 2002 we were accepted by European DN
iceboats association. During the week-ends, if ice condition permit, we train young iceboats
skaters and organize training iceboats racing with cooperation of
national TV for making this sport more popular. In 2001 we started our Web at www.crystall.org/ice (While only in Russian)
For the above period we have carried out 4 Championship of National
association, 3 Championship of Belarus. I. Fershal, A.Prudnikov, D.
Tselezhnikov, D. Kozich, D. Malkovich, took part in Cup of Russia in
2000, 2001 and 2002, and in Championship of Russia in 2002.(http://www.nsk.su/~helen_vn/regattas.htm)
The attempts to take part in WC in 2002 and EC in 2003 were not
successful because of changing the place to Estonia and Sweden, what
caused the additional financial and visa support problems. We are ready to take part in junior programme coming season by with one
or two participants D. Malkovich (20 years old) and A. Blokh (20 years
old). But this will be specified later because of the financial
situation, as it is very difficult to rely on the state programme
support. For my part, I am covering for my colleagues who will be on vocations in August and staying in Minsk. Berst regards Ivan Belarus Icesailing Association mobile +375 296 715487 wana@infonet.by |
